It has been a REALLY long time.....

Hello all

It has been a REALLY long time since I last posted but life has been very busy but here I am.

I have recently decided to scrap a page even if it takes me a week to do and was inspired by Tracy Gardiner (just google her, she is EVERYWHERE) and her work is stunning.

South Africa has a local magazine called Scrap affairs with loads in scrapping articles and inside the middle, Celebr8 had some freebie papers.  Tracy had a design using this free paper and it simply match my photos of my son Tyler eating the pineapple in Mozambique.  It was the most tasteless pineapple and it felt as if you were eating water but Tyler love it so much!!!

I was able to tweak it and combine this layout with a challenge at The Studio Challenge.

This is the first time I have taken part in a Tic Tac Toe challenge and really enjoyed it.  I must say that I started off with one row and ended up with another row and finally settling on the line on top "Paint, Green and Circle"

Besides trying to flick green paint on my paper, I ended up having more on me and it took a few tries to get it right.  I am not a big fan of circles so I hid some of the circle.

Hello all

For some reason I have no idea how I could have missed this blog......

It is called A little Scrapbooking and is run by Lisa Moorefield.  It is such a cute little site and I simply fell in love with it.  

I saw this little comic called "A field Guide to Scrapbookers and thought I share it with you.  

So which one are you?  For me I am a dreamer and a hoarder.  My sister on the other hand thinks that the FANATIC should suit me better as I LOVE cats and rename the title to CATNATIC!!!

I did this card on Corel Draw purely because I am going to print plenty of copies and stick them to cardstock.  Maybe I am just lazy but I have had families/friends moaning "why did he/she get that card and I got this one" and from 2014, everyone is getting the same card.  It also make it easier to send this via email to those who live overseas.

Also remember that there is a challenge coming up this week on the Lets Scrap Bog this Friday, 19th September but dont worry, I will send you a post!

Endless communication possibilities....

Our lives are so busy and sometimes we live so far from our families. We miss the relationships with our families and often we do not even share important life events with them. We live in a time where there are so MANY ways to communicate.  Endless communication possibilities. 

No one will ever love us unconditionally like our family can. We'd be fools not to take advantage of this opportunity.  Life is all about throwing curve balls and its where one needs their families to help each other to accept, move on and cherish the memories of those who left us.

Connor, we all knew that your day would come sooner than most young kids but were we really prepared for that day?   I know I wasn't but deep down I knew that you, Connor, are in a so much better and pain free place.

When you died my whole world came crashing down,

Everywhere I look are the memories of you,

I see you in my children and always speak about you to your cousins, Ethan and Tyler.

It's only been three years, but it still feels like yesterday

But I learned that God needed you more than we did, but why then?

Connor fought for 7 years against the mitrochrondrial disease and earned his wings on September, 16 2011.  

Connor, I miss you terribly and know that you are dancing high up in the clouds.

Exciting news coming soon - 3 September 2014

Learning to ice skate

This weekend gone was a very busy one.  Besides the Spring Walk and The Adventure Day at the boys' schools, Ethan was invited to Edge's 9th birthday party at the Galleria Ice Rink

Now this was the boys first time on the ice rink.  Poor Tyler thought there was water underneath and said that he wasn't going to go on as the ice might crack and he would fall into the icy water below!  Me think he has been watching too many cartoons!

Besides standing like pencils and falling like dominoes, the boys did well as first timers and glided on the edge of the rink.

Summer of 2012.....

I have finished a single page during the heavy rains we have had.  

I used a sketch from Let's Scrap.  This sketch was added by Debbie de Wilde on May 16, 2011.

I have been battling to get back into scrapping since my move 2 years ago from Cape Town and decided to print all the sketches I like from the Let's Scrap website.

December 2011

Gosh it has really been almost a year since I last posted and now don't go falling off your chair!

2011 has been a year of losing friends and a dear nephew. Connor fought for 7 years against the mitrochrondrial disease and earned his wings on September, 16.  Connor, I miss you terribly and know that you are dancing high up in the clouds.

Today I did some scrapping and made 2 things.

Firstly I made a Christmas Shadow box decoration using the papers from the Le Shabby Cafe's December kit - Joys of Christmas.  This is proudly hanging on my Christmas tree!



Secondly, I did my first sketch challenge with Let's Scrap and used the papers from the Le Shabby Cafe's December kit - Joys of Christmas.

New Year New Design

Hello there

I got a notice that http://shabbyblogs.com/ is moving to a new server and we had to update our codes (Like I know how to do this???) so I decided to get a whole look.  Let me know what you think?

So here it is, my new look called "Sophie" which I got for free!!!

While I was busy updating, I realised that my last post was November 2010 and that means I need to get off my butt and get you all updated.  I promise to do this by the end of the week and in the meantime, you all must have a fabulous week!

Life lessons

While most of us had the almost "normal" week, but somewhere else, we have friends who have lost someone dear.

Losing someone or something you love is very painful. After a significant loss, you may experience all kinds of difficult and surprising emotions, such as shock, anger, and guilt. Sometimes it may feel like the sadness will never let up. While these feelings can be frightening and overwhelming, they are normal reactions to loss. Accepting them as part of the grieving process and allowing yourself to feel what you feel is necessary for healing.

 

There is no right or wrong way to grieve — but there are healthy ways to cope with the pain. You can get through it!

Grief that is expressed and experienced has a potential for healing that eventually can strengthen and enrich life.

The Animal Farm, Hillcrest

In September 2010, we decided to go to the Animal Farm in Hillcrest.

A delightful venue with a wide selection of animals, big and small. Owner managed by a couple, who clearly love animals. The tea garden offers light lunches, breakfast, cakes and beverages in a lovely setting overlooking the farms on the opposite side of the valley. You can feed and pet the animals, milk a cow, ride a pony and even go on a tractor ride.

Ethan and Tyler were very fasinated with the goats that lay around outside their open cages and they are so tame. 

Ethan and Tyler soon overcame their fear of feeding.

Hello everyone

It has been one busy time since our arrival in Durban. It is so good to be back and to be amongst families and friends. We now have a hectic social life and are enjoy every bit.

On the shop's side, we are still waiting for the installation of the Telkom lines and so far Telkom is looking for a cable to connect me to the exchange. I am giving them an extra week and then I am calling Neotel. Is there a chance that some of yous have looked into this competitor and have joined them? Please tell me more.

It looks like we have left the raining season in the Western Cape (rain in winter) for the raining season in kwaZulu Natal (rain in summer) and that means we have rain for a WHOLE year!! Recently we have had loads of rain and on Wednesday this week we had our mini tornadoes. I really don't think Durbanites have experienced the Cape Doctor cos mini tornadoes are definitely in the Western Cape at this time of the year!!!

The boys have settled in their new creche and it is a lot smaller than their previous creche. They are only there till 2.30 and then they drive mommy cra{z}y!

While I am dormant with my shop, I was offered a mornings only admin/book-keeping job for a business called Herbs by Rosemary. For the Durbanites, you may have seen these fresh herbs at our local Spars, Pick 'n Pay, Checkers etc. The girl that did the admin work had her second heart transplant operation in 8.5 years and has been having kidneys problems. So this is just temporary arrangement to help our family friend during her recovery period.

Christmas is around the corner and it is a time to together with the families and a time to start scrapping some lovely gifts. So watch this space for some ideas.

What is coming soon.......{very soon} .....is the new addition to the Cuttlebug family and it is a {s}he and is in {p}ink and is adorable. We are hoping that this lovely little lady will make an appearance for Christmas and what is also so cool is that you will get a {FREE} alphabet !!! Bits & pieces...

I am a stay-at-home-scrapbooker-self-employed Mom, trying to be the best wife to Karl and best Mom to my 2 adorable little munchkins, Ethan and Tyler.

My passions are spending time with my family, scrapbooking and reading.

I am married to Karl for 11 years {yip the spark is still there!} and we have 2 gorgeous boys.

Ethan will be 5 next month on 14 Sept and Tyler is in the {terrible twos} stage. No seriously, they are both very good boys and they do have their moments like any other children.

We are busy packing up our home in Cape Town and we are moving back to our home town which is in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. We will miss the gigantic Table Mountain and the long summers but nothing compares to having your family and your friends near by. Being alone in Cape Town with Tammy as my only sister living in Cape Town, you do tend to take for granted your family and friends. As soon as we are back and settled in, we are going to be more involved and introduce our boys to their endless number of cousins and of course to be spoilt by both grannies and grandpas!

Karl was given the opportunity to start up a branch in Durban and I have converted my retail shop "B's Scrapbooks" to an on-line shop. For those who live in Durban, you will be able to come to my classes in my new home in Forest Hills.

Karl works for Avery Dennison and his branch will be located in Westmead, a mere 10 kms away from home. Home is in Forest Hills and we are situated on the Kloof Gorge and have oodles supply of tall and green leafy trees. We were very lucky to find a 3 beds home with a double garage that half has been converted to an office and a huge spare room which will be the home of B’s Scrapbooks.

A quick update on B’s {as I am commonly known by}………

In March 2009, we started our own product range called {B’s Scrapbooks Designs}.

That’s right!!!

We have started our own, unique & versatile white chipboard range.

Easy to paint, chalk, distress, cover & add dimension.
We can’t tell you how excited we are & know that you will be too!!
